Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. After her father's departure from the family, she was brought up by her mother, grandparents, and godparents. Ford suffered from anxiety disorder that was rooted in the word association when she was a teenager. Ford was interested in the profession of acting in her teens and was a part of the National Youth Theatre. She got into the Sylvia Young Theatre School. But after just one week she decided it wasn't the right fit for her. Ford applied again to Central School of Speech and Drama and on the fourth time she applied she was eventually accepted. Her classmate included Shaun Dingwall, who would play a part as Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993. However, she made her television debut in the 1992 episode Surgical Spirit. She adopted the name Catherine Tate. Tate was featured in such programs on television including The Bill, Men Behaving Badly as well as London Burning. Apart from her regular performances in the theatre, Tate also joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. Tate's stand-up humor and humour, which she added to her repertoire in the year 1996, was soon gaining her attention.
